Ingredients

  • 2 boxes NoBeef Burger of 160 g
  • 4 sesame buns
  • 2 tbsp sunflower oil
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 tbsp Hellmann's vegan mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp mustard
  • 0.75 head of iceberg lettuce, julienne
  • 1 red onion, in rings
  • 4 slices of gherkin
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • salt to taste

Basil-tomato BBQ sauce

  • 2 tbsp butter or sunflower oil
  • 1 shallot, chopped
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp sherry vinegar
  • 2 tbsp barbecue sauce
  • 2 tomatoes, deseeded, diced
  • 2 basil leaves, finely chopped

Prepare

  1. Prepare a BBQ with a lid for direct grilling and heat it until approximately 200 °C is reached at the grill grate.

  2. For the BBQ sauce, heat butter in a pan and sauté the shallot. Once softened, add the sugar. Stir well and let it caramelize slightly. Deglaze with sherry vinegar and add the BBQ sauce. Heat thoroughly, then remove the pan from the heat. Add the tomato and basil and season to taste with salt and pepper.

  3. Cut the buns open and toast briefly on the hot grill. Brush the Nobeef Burgers on both sides with oil and sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper. Place the burgers on the BBQ and grill on both sides for approximately 2 minutes until they are warm and have grill marks. Melt a slice of cheese on each burger.

  4. Spread a little mayonnaise and mustard on the bottom halves of the buns. Divide the lettuce and onion rings among the buns. Place a burger on each bun and garnish with a slice of pickle and BBQ sauce.
